Resident Evil 2 has blown everyone’s expectations out of the water and has become the second best Steam launch ever for Capcom.
Resident Evil 2 has been critically acclaimed all over the internet. Our own reviewer, who has some pretty hot takes on some other titles, stated that it is not only one of the best installments in the franchise, but it quite possibly is the best remake ever made. With all of this praise, it comes to no surprise that the game is doing very well on Steam.
According to PCGamesN, the new installment reached a concurrent player peak of 55,164 on Steam, putting the game as the ninth most-played game on the platform when the game launched Thursday night. Somehow though, Team Fortress 2 was still in front of that with 60,000 players, despite the game being out for over ten years. Some games just never stop I guess.
The launch was great for Capcom. However, it is still very far behind the huge launch of Monster Hunter: World, which peaked with about 329,000 players during last year. Still, the remake did succeed by about three times what the Resident Evil 7 numbers were in 2017.
Resident Evil 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you have still not picked the game up and would like to do so, you can order the game right here through Amazon.
