During Square Enix’s worldwide Final Fantasy XV broadcast, we learned a ton of new information about the Final Fantasy that never seems to go away. A new trailer for Episode Ardyn was revealed and you can check it out down below.
Square Enix also revealed that they’ll be releasing an animated cinematic called Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn – Prologue sometime before the DLC launches. Episode Ardyn will give players more background on the game’s antagonist. While Ardyn’s uses the same powers as the main protagonist, Noctis, he moves around in a much more eerie way, surrounded by what looks to be a black mist.
We learned more information in regards to the future of Final Fantasy XV and the long-teased second season of DLC. The biggest news is that Hajime Tabata, the game’s late director after Tetsuya Nomura, will be leaving Square Enix to start his own game studio.
With that, three out of the four additional DLC episodes have been canceled. Additionally, Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer: Comrades will launch as a standalone game on December 12 for PS4 and Xbox One. Players who own Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition already gain access to the Comrades DLC so it will not be sold to them. Finally, the world of XV will be crossing over with Final Fantasy XIV in a free update to the game coming in December.
Final Fantasy XV is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. A press release from Square Enix also stated that the “Final Fantasy XV journey will conclude next year with the release of Episode Ardyn,” so this seems to be the end of the road for the game’s post launch support.
