Ninja Theory’s celebrated title Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice captivated players with its mental health-focused story, but the developer took it one step further upon the game’s release on Xbox One earlier this year. They made a pledge to donate $50,000 to nonprofit organization Mental Health America if the Xbox version reached 100,000 in sales—months later, the game has finally passed that goal.
During the first week after release for Hellblade on Xbox One, the game reached a still rather impressive 50,000 copies sold. While this was short of Ninja Theory’s original stretch goal, the company still donated $25,000 to the mental health organization, promising to donate the full original amount when the sales goal was reached.
There is much to be celebrated with this news: several more players are able to experience the dark and intense action-adventure, but their purchases made it possible for Ninja Theory to provide additional financial support to Mental Health America’s mission to help those struggling with mental health issues.

We’ve donated another $25K to @MentalHealthAm to take our total donation to $50K! We pledged to make this donation when we hit 100K sales on #Xbox – so thanks to all the #Xbox fans who made this happen! pic.twitter.com/mwUh1bixw3
