Josh Olin, Treyarch’s Community Manager during the Black Ops 1 days, came up Black Ops 4’s Down But Not Out Mode months ago.
A few days ago, Treyarch released a brand new variation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode in the form of Down But Not Out. While it’s a cool addition, it may, in fact, owe its existence to Josh Olin, Treyarch’s former Community Manager, who seemingly came up with the idea back in November of last year.
Olin, who worked at Treyarch during the Black Ops 1 years, was replying to David Vonderhaar in a tweet when he put out his idea for a Blackout variant, which featured respawns, quads, and end-game cutoffs for respawns, which sounds eerily similar to the mode we got on Tuesday. You can check out the tweet at the end of the article and tell us what you think.
While some people might be upset that a developer took someone else’s idea so blatantly, Olin simply replied to Call of Duty’s announcement with a couple smiles and the word “Dope.”
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
Respawn in Squads. Design it similar to Left 4 Dead, where at the next circle collapse point there’s a waypoint / mission your squad can go to and “Activate” a respawn beacon so your dead teammates can chute back in.
Cutoff this feature late-game to allow endgame to play out.
